About Misha
Hi, I’m Misha Pochuev — the photographer behind True Story Photography.
I photograph weddings in a candid, documentary-led way: real moments, natural portraits, honest emotion, and the little in-between scenes that make the day feel alive.
Before weddings, my background was in photojournalism. For more than 20 years I learned to watch closely, react quickly and tell stories as they unfolded — with work published by outlets including Time.com and The Guardian.
Eventually I realised I wanted to use that same way of seeing for something more life-affirming. Weddings gave me exactly that: real people, real emotion, chaos, humour, family, beauty, nerves, joy — all happening at once.
For more than 20 years, photography has been my way of observing people, love, nervousness, connection and the small moments that reveal who we are.
A wedding is not a performance. It is a living emotional event. My role is to document it honestly — but also to bring a calm, thoughtful presence that helps people feel more comfortable inside the experience.
I am not there to turn your day into a photoshoot. I am there to help you stay connected to it.
I also know how important these photographs become because I made one big mistake at my own wedding: I did not hire a professional photographer. That regret changed the way I think about wedding photography. These images are not just content for today; they become part of a family’s memory for decades.
On the day, my job is not to turn your wedding into a photoshoot. It is to help you feel comfortable, blend into the celebration, communicate clearly, and catch the story honestly while you actually enjoy being there.
If that sounds like the kind of photography you want, I would love to help you tell your True Story.
