Who we are

Hi, I’m Misha Pochuev!

I’m the founder and currently the sole photographer at True Story Photography, where I dedicate myself to capturing the beauty, emotion, and meaning of life’s most important moments.

My journey began over 20 years ago, when I left Australia to pursue a career in photojournalism. Documenting history as it unfolded was both fascinating and rewarding — especially seeing my work published in major outlets such as Time.com, The Guardian and others. But over time, I realised that focusing on disasters and revolutions didn’t reflect who I truly was. I began searching for a more positive and life-affirming way to use my craft.

Nine years ago, I made one of the best decisions of my life—I got married. Yet there’s one regret that still stays with me: not hiring a professional photographer for my own wedding. At the time, I didn’t understand how vital it is to preserve meaningful, high-quality images of such a special day.

That experience reshaped how I view photography. Wedding or family photos may not make the front page of Time or The Guardian, but their value is timeless. They become part of a family’s legacy—images to be cherished and passed down for generations.

For me, photography is more than a profession—it’s a way to create something enduring and profoundly personal. It’s an honour to know that my work will become part of your story, a memory preserved for a lifetime.

I would be privileged to help you tell your True Story.
